Possessed of super strength and the ability to fly, Atom Ant was no ordinary insect. Whenever law enforcement agencies faced a problem they couldn't handle, they turned to him for help.

Atom Ant's "secret headquarters was located in a private ant hill, with a mailbox at the entrance that read ATOM ANT. Deep in his underground laboratory, Atom Ant received calls for help from law enforcement agencies, or by picking up distress signals from everyday citizens through the use of his antennae. With a hearty cry of "Up and at em, Atom Ant!" the tiny hero zoomed to the scene like a miniature whirlwind, overcoming every challenge he faced with relative ease.

Atom Ant was one of two featured segments on the hour-long, Atom Ant/Secret Squirrel Show. Other segments included Precious Pup, The Hillbilly Bears, Secret Squirrel, Squiddly and Winsome Witch. All of the segments were 6-7 minutes in length. After his own series ended, Atom Ant became a regular cast member on Yogi's Gang (1973), and later appeared on Yo Yogi! (1991).
